How it started
PV&J Media started as the home for the P&V Are Kittens series. As that project grew, we discovered a community of people full of beautiful book ideas. From blank page to print, we are a wildly creative partner and a startup mindset.
Genres We Publish
PV&J Media publishes projects with origin stories that make us lean in. We love writing rooted in a family story or personal artifact. Delight us with what delights you.Generally, those things fall into these genres: picture books, middle grade and young adult fiction, historical fiction, and non-fiction (including local history, genealogy, and cookbooks).
Beyond the Page
We love to extend the reader's time beyond the page. For young readers especially, extended time with multiple engagement points helps grow attentiveness. What does it look like? A paper doll set, a character dress-up game, a Minecraft build, or something else we haven't thought of yet.
How it Works
We're a hybrid publisher. You invest in your own book, you keep your rights, and you keep every dollar it earns. What we bring is the craft: editing from developmental through line, copy, and proof; illustration and design; production and print; retail setup — all held to traditional publishing standards.We're selective. We take on a small number of projects, and we're especially drawn to stories that lend themselves to visual storytelling. We don't shy away from hard history or real lives — but we handle every subject with care, and explicit content and strong language stay off our pages.Marketing and sales stay yours. We'll get your book everywhere it needs to be available; getting it into hands is the author's work, and the authors who thrive with us know that going in.And when a story wants to grow past its covers — a paper doll set, a dress-up game, a Minecraft world — that's our favorite part.Our projects feature traditional and digital art made by real people.Our practices are built on the foundations of startup principles.

Johanna Robinson
She is a childen's book author and illustrator, as well as the co-author with Dr. Shari Williams of the U.S. Colored Troops play When Freedom Came.When not writing or illustrating, she loves to paint, read, research, and travel. She lives in California with her husband, their identical twin daughters, and a gray tabby cat with a pink nose. She also has two adult children.
Lesley Downie
She is the author of middle-grade women’s fiction. A Massachusetts transplant now rooted in Southern California, she’s still a New England girl at heart.Her favorite things include family, friends, popcorn, streaming British espionage thrillers and historical dramas, and synchronicity. Her search for the ultimate low-carb donut continues.
